Every year we have a camp for boys who have not camped as
Cubs before.
It is called the Young Boys' Camp, or YBC, and this year it took place in
July.
The YBC takes place at the Scout Hut over a
weekend. The first night we sleep in the Hut, then on Saturday we put up tents
and the second night we sleep in tents.
This year 11 boys came on the YBC and went to Pirate School.
The Pirates were shown how to build things from canes, and
each Pirate Gang then built their own Ship.
. |
The Ships assembling outside for inspection.
They earned points for imagination, how well made they were, and how well the
Gangs had worked together.
Then the battle! The Gangs were armed with wet sponge
balls to attack the other Ship with.
The Pirates got their first go at archery.
The Pirates cooked their own dinner on open fires.
On Saturday night we sat around a camp fire and told Pirate stories.
On Sunday we built a bridge over the stream.
Everybody has to work together to build a bridge.

Are the Pirates playing Pooh Sticks? Or just
enjoying a well earned rest in the sun?
