Every year in the spring we have a camp for
boys who have not camped as Cubs before.
It is called the YBC, which stands for Young Boys' Camp.

The YBC is a weekend camp at our Hut. The first
night the boys sleep in the Hut, then on the Saturday we put up tents, and on
the Saturday night we sleep in tents. |
This year the YBC was at the beginning of April, and 8 boys
came.
There were two teams, called "Team Extreme" and "Robot
Wars". The teams chose their own names. Each team had their own tent. |
 |
 |
The boys took it in turns to do all the chores.
Like washing up . . . |
| . . . and peeling potatoes for dinner. |
 |
 |
When we'd put the tents up we made some camp
gadgets. These are things made out of poles and lashings that make life at camp
more comfortable.
Team Robot Wars made a washing line for the tea towels, and this wash stand.
|
And Team Extreme made this rack for their boots.
Or is it a device to collect rain water? (Tip: if you're going to keep your
boots outside, make sure that they are upside down so that they don't fill with
water if it rains, or with bugs.) |
 |
 |
On Saturday night the boys cooked their own
dinner, and the Leaders' dinner, on camp fires. |
| And then, when it was dark, we had a camp fire. The Teams put
on some "stunts", which are little sketches or plays, usually funny.
Sometimes funny. |
 |
 |
And sang some camp fire songs. |
| On Sunday we built a bridge over the stream. It needs
everybody to work together to build a bridge. |
 |
 |
 |
 |
And if you're going to fall off the bridge, sit
down first! |
