Baden-Powell's Birthday Party

In February we had a birthday party for Robert Baden-Powell, the man who started Scouts and Cub Scouts. His birthday was on 22 February. The party was on a Saturday, at the Scout Hut, and lasted all day.

We invited the Beavers to join us for the party.

Here are some photos of what we did.
Beavers
Cardboard box We showed the Beavers how to play some Cub games.

Then we used a lot of cardboard boxes and a lot of sticky tape . . . . .
. . . . to make a maze.

One Six at a time had to find their way round the maze to find the hidden bag of chocolate buttons. Trouble is, only the boy at the front can pick up the buttons, and everybody is blindfolded except the boy at the back!
A maze
Amazing! As some of the Sixes discovered, it helps if the boy at the back and the boy at the front both agree on which is "left" and which is "right"!
Then, although it was very cold, the sun was shining so we went out to play non-stop cricket. Well, you do play cricket when the sun is shining, don't you? Cricket
Lunch box Then we came back in for lunch. We also had a birthday cake, and sang Happy Birthday to Robert.

Is this a lunch box?
Then we joined all the boxes up to make a tunnel. Everybody had to crawl through the tunnel, one at a time, in a race against the clock. The fastest time to get round the course was 44 seconds! Tunnels
Tunnels When everybody had been round enough times to demolish the tunnel, we took all the bits outside and had a bonfire. Then we went home.

Robert Baden-Powell couldn't come to his party himself. He was born in 1857! But we all had a good time anyway.
